A Splash of Color for the Community — Ed Levin Park Unveils the Sandy Wool Lake Restroom Mural
On Sunday, October 5th, Ed Levin County Park in Milpitas came alive with color, creativity, and community spirit. Local officials, young artists, and community partners gathered to celebrate the unveiling of the new Sandy Wool Lake Restroom Mural, a vibrant addition to one of Santa Clara County’s most beloved parks.
The event, held at 1 PM by the scenic Sandy Wool Lake, featured a ribbon-cutting ceremony led by Santa Clara County Supervisor Otto Lee and Todd Lofgren, Director of Parks and Recreation for Santa Clara County. Both leaders highlighted how public art can inspire connection between people and nature, while reflecting the community’s shared commitment to sustainability and creativity.
Supported by Santa Clara County Parks and Valley Water, the mural was a true community collaboration — designed and painted by local youth artists who poured their imagination and heart into every stroke. The artwork celebrates the natural beauty of the park, the diversity of its visitors, and the importance of protecting local ecosystems.
“This mural is more than paint on a wall,” said one of the student artists. “It’s our way of showing how art and nature can coexist beautifully.”
Visitors are encouraged to stop by Ed Levin Park (Plus Code: F44P+M8, Milpitas, CA 95035) to view the mural and enjoy the lake’s tranquil scenery. The project stands as a joyful reminder that when the community comes together, even the simplest spaces — like a park restroom — can be transformed into something inspiring.
