What Happened at Our Latest Youth Committee Meeting

At our latest youth meeting, a lot of exciting updates and progress were shared across different teams.

The Data Science & AI team is getting ready for their upcoming Datathon. They’ve already filled all 70 spots and are now finalizing speakers, judges, and event plans. They’re also working on a project to predict wildfires using AI, which could help communities prepare earlier. To support their work, they’ve been fundraising in creative ways—like raising and selling ducklings.

The Youth Employment team is using AI tools like NotebookLM to research how high school students find jobs. They are learning how to collect and analyze data, and how to ask better research questions.

The Robotics Outreach team shared their impact so far—they’ve reached over 250 students through workshops, camps, and events. They’re also preparing for a summer robotics camp and looking for volunteers.

The Public Art team gave updates on their mural projects, including a collaboration with students in Uganda. While there have been some delays due to serious events in the area, the team is continuing to work on designs and community support.

The Sustainability team highlighted their recent events, including Earth Day activities that reached around 300 people. They are also planning a Green Festival and offering mini grants to support student-led sustainability projects.

Lastly, the Aviation team is working on drone projects, including a drone light show and a NASA internship this summer. They’ve been meeting weekly to build and improve their drones.

Overall, the meeting showed how much progress each team is making. Everyone is continuing to learn, collaborate, and turn their ideas into real-world impact.
