Youth Employment Project: A Student-Led Research Initiative
Title: Inside the Youth Employment Market: Student-Led Research in Action
Our Youth Employment Program is officially underway! This initiative focuses on studying high school students’ work experiences and patterns to better understand the evolving youth employment market. 📊✨
At this stage, our team is actively analyzing survey responses, conducting interviews, and reviewing existing data to uncover meaningful trends in teen employment. Through this process, we aim to better understand students’ motivations for working, the challenges they face, and how employment impacts their academic performance.
What makes this program especially impactful is its combination of research and real-world application. Students are not only collecting and analyzing data, but also building practical skills that extend beyond the classroom. They will learn how to use Google’s AI-powered research tool, NotebookLM, to organize and interpret information more effectively. At the same time, they will develop a comprehensive understanding of the youth employment landscape across the United States, California, and the San Francisco Bay Area.
Beyond research, the program emphasizes communication and impact. Students will have the opportunity to pitch their findings and insights to local media and newspapers, helping bring youth perspectives into public conversations. In addition, they will publish their research results on X (Twitter), making their work accessible to a broader audience and encouraging community engagement.
Ultimately, this program is about more than just data—it’s about giving students a voice, equipping them with valuable research skills, and contributing meaningful insights to the conversation around youth employment.
