Uganda Mural Painting: Overnight Camp at Portola Redwoods State Park
Location: Portola Redwoods State Park – Redwoods Group Camping Site
Dates: June 8–12, 2026
Ages: 10–15
Set in the historic Portola Redwoods State Park, this 5-day overnight art and nature camp brings youth together to paint a vibrant mural emphasizing environmental sustainability and international collaboration, guided by experienced mentors. The finished product will bring to life a U.S.-Uganda jointly designed mural, which will then be displayed in both countries. Campers will focus on painting, technique, and unleashing their creative energy while connecting with nature. Nearby creeks and hiking trails offer plenty of fresh air and exercise— a perfect getaway from the screen!
Beyond daytime art and team-building, campers will enjoy fun after-dark traditions, including a hand-made camp sign competition (prize included!), campfire stories with delicious s’mores, ranger chats, forest legends, and starlit hikes that display an unobstructed view of the night sky— a sight best seen when surrounded by nature!
Nutritious meals and snacks are included, and will be provided by Martha’s Kitchen. Please notify us if your kids have any allergies for foods they cannot eat.
Kids will be dropped off on Monday morning and picked up on Friday afternoon.
Your camper will return home with more than memories—they’ll leave with new friends, leadership skills, and a growing passion for creating art for the community.
