Building Momentum — Second Monthly Youth Committee Meeting

On November 2, 2025, CP Mentorship’s high school students gathered for the second monthly meeting of the 2025–2026 school year. Over the past month, each committee had been hard at work — organizing events, developing new projects, and bringing creativity and leadership into every initiative.

This meeting served as both a reflection on what they had achieved and a launchpad for what’s coming next.

Committee Updates and Reflections

Representatives from each student committee — including Data Science & AI, Robotics Outreach, Public Art, History & Culture, Sustainability, and Emergency Response — took turns sharing their group’s progress.

From organizing hands-on robotics workshops at Coyote Point, to curating art projects about clean energy and sustainability, students demonstrated how passion and teamwork can bring real change to the community.

Some highlights included:

  • Sustainability Committee — planning future collaborations with NASA to design Mars life simulations through coding and 3D modeling.

  • Public Art Committee — preparing new mural projects at parks in Milpitas and Santa Clara, with support from the California Arts Council.

  • Data Science & AI Committee — exploring wildfire prediction models for the 2026 WiDS Datathon challenge.

  • History & Culture Committee — creating art designs for community fundraisers and exploring cultural storytelling through design.

  • Robotics Outreach Committee — reflecting on their successful October robotics event and planning for future STEM workshops.

Each presentation was filled with enthusiasm, thoughtful reflection, and new ideas for the months ahead.

Welcoming New Interns

The meeting also introduced two new interns who recently joined the mentorship program:

  • Kelly Yu, a third-year Business Marketing major at San Jose State University, who brings her experience from working with global brands and her passion for education and creativity.

  • Ethan Chi, a Business Analytics student from SJSU, joining as an administrative intern with a strong background in mentorship and data analysis.

Their addition brings fresh energy and professional expertise to support the youth teams in communications, marketing, and project management.

Looking Ahead

As the meeting wrapped up, each committee outlined goals for November — from applying for new grants to expanding outreach opportunities and preparing for the upcoming Droneathon event in December.

The atmosphere was vibrant, filled with collaboration and optimism. Students discussed how they could make their projects more impactful, how to engage their communities more deeply, and how to connect their work to broader causes like sustainability, education, and innovation.

It was clear that this generation of young leaders is not just thinking about the future — they are actively shaping it.
