Bringing Nature to Life: Coyote Point Mural

At CompassMentorship, we believe in the power of community, creativity, and connection to our environment. That’s why we’re thrilled to be part of the vibrant Coyote Point Mural Project—an initiative that brings art, nature, and community spirit together at the beloved Promenade Restroom at Coyote Point Park.

Set along the beautiful San Mateo shoreline, this mural-in-progress will transform the four exterior walls of the restroom into a living story of the park's rich wildlife and coastal beauty. With two design versions completed and a third currently under review, the artwork is taking shape to reflect the local ecosystems—from wetlands to eucalyptus groves, fields to bluffs.

Each wall has a unique theme:

  • Beach Wall: A lively seascape with windsurfers and brown pelicans soaring overhead.

  • Restroom Entrance Wall: A serene eucalyptus knoll, where a coyote naps (and wakes!) on the restroom doors, watched by a curious jackrabbit.

  • Knoll-Facing Wall: The wetlands scene comes to life with elegant egrets, busy sandpipers, and soaring ospreys.

  • Bluff-Facing Wall: Families and friends flying kites capture the joyful energy of the open fields.

Interspersed throughout are native flora and fauna like the California Towhee, Anna’s Hummingbird, western bluebird, and of course, the California poppy—adding layers of charm and storytelling.
