AI in Governance and Public Art Committee Present at Milpitas City Council Meeting

On June 17, representatives of the AI in Governance project and the Public Art Committee had the opportunity to present their work to the Milpitas City Council.

Ranya Zhang and Hanyi Yuan, representing the CPMentorship AI in Governance project, shared their success in using Google’s Gemini API to generate concise and accurate summary minutes of all Sunnyvale city meetings in the past year. This project, originally commissioned by the Sunnyvale City Council, aims to improve civic transparency and accessibility. They are looking to expand their work to additional cities, including Milpitas.

Annie Yu, representing the Public Art Committee, shared progress on the committee’s community mural projects, which aim to promote environmental awareness through public art while engaging the community through summer mural-painting camps. A partnership with the City of Milpitas was discussed to bring this project to the Milpitas.

These student-led projects help promote inclusive and engaging communities through both technology and art.
