Nearly 85 years after one of World War II's most daring missions, discover the remarkable and often-overlooked story of the Chinese civilians who risked everything to rescue American airmen following the Doolittle Raid.
The day begins at the Great Star Theater with an exclusive test screening of The Great Doolittle Raid Rescue, followed by a special Q&A with filmmaker George Retelas and several high school student authors of One Way Mission: The Doolittle Raid and the Chinese Rescue. Learn about the research behind both projects and the enduring legacy of this extraordinary rescue mission.
The program then continues at the WWII Pacific War Memorial Hall, where guests can enjoy a guided museum tour exploring the history featured in both the documentary and the book. Student authors will be available for book signings, and copies of the book will be available for purchase.
Following the official program, everyone is invited to continue the conversation over an informal dinner in Chinatown as we celebrate this special milestone together.
