Join Us for a Walk & Drone Audit at Sunnyvale’s Murphy Park
Have you ever wondered what it really feels like to walk through our neighborhood streets? Where sidewalks shine or fall short? Where crossings feel safe or where a stroller, wheelchair, or a child’s bike might struggle?
We’re inviting you to take part in a community Walk Audit!
📍 Location: Murphy Park, Sunnyvale
🕙Time: 10:30 AM — 1:00 PM, Saturday, September 20th.

You might be wondering—what’s a walk audit?
A walk audit is a fun, hands-on way for community members to experience our streets together, notice what works, and point out what could be better. Participants walk a short route, take notes, and share their insights, all of which will help inform future improvements in our city’s transportation planning.
We’ll also be having drones survey some circuits aerially!
It’s not just about sidewalks. We’ll look at safe crossings and intersections, lighting, benches, trees, and other amenities, how drivers behave on nearby streets, and how comfortable and welcoming the space feels for kids, seniors, and everyone in between.
With around 20 short walking circuits/routes, the event is designed so each group of 2–3 people can focus on one area. That means routes are manageable for children, seniors, and people of all abilities. Families are especially encouraged to join — kids bring fresh perspectives adults often miss! Plus, walking together is a great way to connect with neighbors while making a difference in our community.
Expect a short orientation at Murphy Park when you first arrive. Then, small groups of 2–3 people will be assigned to one of 20 walk routes. Walk at your own pace, take notes, and snap photos. Return to Murphy Park for a quick debrief, snacks and lunch, and a chance to share what you observed.
All supplies (clipboards, maps, forms, pens) will be provided — just bring your comfortable walking shoes, sunscreen, and family spirit.
Sunnyvale is at its best when neighbors come together. Let’s make our streets safer, healthier, and more enjoyable for all — starting with one walk at a time. We’ll see you at Murphy Park on September 20th!
