CPMentorship @ Milpitas Earth Day: Turning Conversations into Action

On a bright Saturday morning at Murphy Park, the Milpitas Earth Day Celebration brought together families, organizations, and passionate volunteers for a shared purpose: turning sustainability from an idea into action.

This year, CPMentorship proudly hosted a booth—and what started as a simple outreach effort quickly became something much bigger.

A Booth That Became a Hub of Ideas

From the moment the event began, our booth was full of energy. Families stopped by, students asked questions, and community members shared their own sustainability efforts.

We introduced:

  • CPMentorship Sustainability Committee

  • Summer Camps focused on impact-driven learning

  • Opportunities for youth-led projects and leadership

What stood out most?

People weren’t just curious—they wanted to get involved.

Parents asked how their kids could participate. Students shared their own ideas. Some even stayed to brainstorm potential projects on the spot.

Learning from Local Leaders

We didn’t just host—we explored.

Our team took the opportunity to talk with and interview several participating organizations, including:

  • Our City Forest

  • Silicon Valley Clean Energy

  • Valley Water

  • Watershed Watch

  • and more!

These conversations highlighted the wide range of sustainability efforts happening locally—from urban forestry and clean energy to water conservation and environmental education.

Looking Ahead

The event was more than outreach—it was a starting point.

We are excited to follow up with students, families, and organizations to build partnerships and create opportunities for youth-led sustainability initiatives.

Earth Day reminded us that real change begins with connection—and grows through action.
